"If I had known how wonderful it would be to have grandchildren, I'd have had them first." —Unknown
There are many kinds of Grandparents out there, so let's just over generalize about the various varieties.
The Wise Young Coot:
This hippy is organic and fun. They know what to do and when to do it. They are parenting mentors with tricks and tips. So much wisdom packed into that Subaru they drive. They may buy the Yoee Baby! But, if not, show them how smart you are, and get one for them for when Amanda goes to visit them. You can impress them with your knowledge of developmental science. But, probably not.
The Spoiler:
They want the easy part. They want to play. They will say they already did their parenting part...stayed up all night yada yada.." We love the spoilers because they love play! In some ways, these are our people. They can't wait to take 10lb Horace from your arms and make crazy faces. Get'em a Yoee Baby, fast. They will go nuts. The bonus part is that they will play longer and have (even more) fun with a Yoee Baby.
The Chillster:
These folks are a harder read. They keep more distance with the tiny ones, waiting for Lil' Pepe to be "big enough to play." (ha!). This is the perfect target for all the reasons you are starting to understand. They need a helping hand, a tool. Yoee Baby is the perfect foil, encouraging them to hold and play with baby without feeling awkward with an infant. It's hard to explain, but sometimes people who are not comfortable with tiny bebes will often find unforeseen bonds once they get those giggles, and the eye contact that Yoee Baby creates.
Step-Grandpapa:
See The Chillster above. A Grandparent who is new to the family, can benefit from a tool that helps break the ice.
The Educator:
This is a rare bird, often seen in places like Berkley, Ann Arbor, and Madison. They will read all about Yoee Baby, and understand all the science on developmental toys, eye tracking, sensory etc., and explain it to you. Let them. The best part about these folks is that they are not immune. Eventually, the lecture will pass, and coos may begin.
Ol' Crusty:
Just get them a Yoee Baby, but make it their idea.
The Clown Around Town:
We love the clowns, but sometimes they over stimulate, or are just out of touch with our baby's sleeping or eating patterns. They will adapt to any toy (at any time). So, show them how to move slowly. Yoee Baby is a great tool for helping people to mellow out.
The Solo Operator:
With so many people working so hard, there are thousands of Grandparents in full or part-time caregiving positions. Nobody deserves a Yoee Baby more than this group. We salute you!
Regardless of who the Grandparent is, and it could be you, there are generally two amazing outcomes by having a Yoee Baby. PLAY or SLEEP (Play often leads to sleep of course). But, when a baby falls asleep in our arms, who we are and how we are labeled just doesn't matter.
It's simply magic.
